Our 2018 Cabernet Franc is an exceptional example of just how great this grape variety can be.
The fall of 2018 allowed for long hang time which translates to flavour development in the wine. The cooler weather gave us more complexity, and that means more subtleties and nuances in the wine. The nose is an indication of this, showing layers of fruit, dried herbs and spices.
Aged for over 30 months in French oak, this Cabernet Franc has attained an elegant balance. The palate follows through on the hints given by the nose, with the dark fruits showing first, but quickly giving way to hints of dried tea leaves, sweet herbs, roasted red peppers and white peppercorns. The wine demonstrates extraordinary smoothness and delicacy throughout the tasting experience, as the supple tannins and perfectly balancing acidity frame the flavours of the wine. This transitions into a surprisingly long finish, where the spiciness of this Cabernet Franc lingers beautifully.
