Our Estate Reserve shows cool-climate Merlot’s bright blueberry and dark plum character combined with the silky texture characteristic of the Niagara River appellation. This wine is accessible upon release but will reward time in cellar.
Food Pairing: The bright fruit and silky texture are highlighted by wild boar with cherry-rosemary compote, a dish created by Kitchen76 specifically to go alongside this wine.
Cellaring: Will reward the patience of those who can wait 3-5 years before opening and hold for a further 7+ years.
93 points – “It is quite intense with cool climate currant, fresh herbs (thyme), some chocolaty oak. It’s full bodied, fairly tense with dusty, woody tannin. The length is excellent to outstanding. Best 2020 to 2030. Tasted August 2018.” – David Lawrason, WineAlign
93 points – “Length is excellent. Very fine wine. Drink or hold until 2025 or so. Tasted August 2018.” – John Szabo, WineAlign
92 points – “Such a highly composed wine, with black fruit, espresso and chocolate. Will be released in the fall of 2018. Fineness of tannin is quite remarkable in spite of the weight. Inky, with soy, anise and fine chocolate. Where big and elegant meet up, share a cup of coffee and then get down to serious business. Drink 2021-2028.” – Michael Godel, WineAlign
